Privacy Policy
Poli is a language learning app. This policy explains what data the app collects, why it is used, how it is protected, and how you can request access or deletion.
Data we collect
- Account information such as email address and sign-in identifiers.
- Learning profile data such as target language, level, goals, interests, and preferences.
- Learning activity such as lesson progress, vocabulary progress, answers, scores, and generated lesson history.
- Audio input when you use speaking or tutor features, only to provide the feature.
- Technical data such as device, app diagnostics, usage events, and crash or performance signals.
- Subscription and payment status handled by payment providers such as Stripe or app store billing systems.
How we use data
- To create and personalize lessons, vocabulary, listening, reading, and tutor sessions.
- To save progress and synchronize your account across devices.
- To provide support, account security, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting.
- To understand app reliability and improve the learning experience.
AI features and third-party AI sharing
Poli uses Google Cloud Vertex AI and Google Gemini, including Gemini Live, to provide AI tutor conversations, generated lessons, feedback, speech support, and generated audio. With your in-app permission, Poli may send the following data to these AI services only to provide and improve the requested app features:
- Learning profile data such as selected languages, CEFR level, goals, interests, correction preferences, and tutor personality preferences.
- Learning activity and lesson context such as roadmap state, progress, answers, scores, vocabulary, scenario context, reading/listening prompts, and generated lesson history.
- Text you enter or submit in tutor, lesson, vocabulary, reading, listening, pronunciation, and feedback features.
- Microphone audio and derived transcripts when you use speaking or real-time tutor features.
Google Cloud processes this data as a service provider for Poli. Poli requires service providers that receive user data to provide the same or equal protection described in this policy and required by App Store privacy rules.
Processors and third parties
Poli may use service providers for authentication, cloud hosting, analytics, AI generation, speech processing, storage, and payments. These may include AWS Amplify/Cognito/DynamoDB/S3, Google Cloud/Vertex AI, Firebase Analytics, and Stripe. These providers process data only for app functionality, security, analytics, payment, and support purposes.
Security
Data is transmitted using encrypted connections where supported by the platform and service provider. Access to backend systems is limited to the app services and authorized operational access.
Retention and deletion
Account and learning data is kept while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can request deletion in the app or at delete-account.html. Some payment, fraud-prevention, security, or legal records may be retained where required or legitimately necessary.
Your choices
You may request access, correction, export, or deletion by emailing poli.info@gmx.de. You can also manage account deletion from inside the Poli app settings.
